Less than half an hour into the final practice session for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Red Bull hopeful, Max Verstappen crashed his car on the entry to turn 15 at the Baku City track. Since his car was stranded on the track, it brought out the red flags.

Max was on his flying lap when he went over the yellow sausage kerb at turn 14. Losing control, he rammed into the barriers on turn 15. He tried to reverse his F1 car and accelerate out of it but to no avail. His car was already into anti-stall mode as he sought to restart it.

Will Max Verstappen miss qualifying?

The Dutchman was running in fifth place when the crash happened. The crash in itself wasn’t too heavy. On closer look, he not only damaged his front wing but also looked like some issue with his right-front suspension.

Hopefully, for him, the mechanics will be able to repair his car in time for qualifying. The session for that will begin in less than three hours. So, it will be a race against time to fix the car, completely.

They would not want to leave any area of the car unattended, as was the case of Charles Leclerc in Monaco. Because something like that will be a huge blow to Red Bull, who are the heavy favorites to take the maximum points in Baku.

Max wants to be the best

He recently expressed his desire to be the best driver on the F1 grid. Or at least that’s the mentality that he possesses –

“A racing car has a steering wheel and two pedals. That’s what you can control. As a driver, you always have to believe that you are the best.”

For now, he will be hoping the make it to the qualifying session.
