Ex-Ferrari F1 Boss Arrivabene ‘Was Not Understood’ Claims Sebastian Vettel

Across his six-year journey with Scuderia Ferrari, Sebastian Vettel has seen a leadership change. Whilst Vettel was originally brought in under Maurizio Arrivabene’s management in 2015, and the German has been working with Mattia Binotto since 2019.
Vettel enjoyed a good start to his career with the Italian giants, but it has not exactly been the rosiest of times in recent years. Nevertheless, he believes he has had good professional relationships with both team bosses.
The 33-year-old German talked about what he learned from his time with Arrivabene. He also revealed whether he felt ‘betrayed’ by Binotto’s decision of not renewing his contract with the team.

Sebastian Vettel believes he ‘learned a lot’ from Maurizio Arrivabene
Vettel is quoted as saying, “He was not understood from the outside, he played a very important role in the relaunch. I immediately felt comfortable with him, despite some difficulties.”
“There was trust between us, he went through complicated times. It’s hard to be a team principal when you are close to the goal and then you don’t reach it. I learned a lot from Maurizio.” said Vettel. (translated via Google Translate)

Seb, on two occasions, came close to winning the Drivers’ title with Ferrari – 2017 and 2018. However, Hamilton was just good enough to sneak the wins and eventually win the race for the titles as well.
Vettel does not hold a grudge despite the non-renewal of his contract

Admittedly, it F1 fans around the world received a massive shock when they learned Ferrari had decided to not renew Vettel’s contract. However, the experienced German believes he is not the type of person to hold grudges over such situations.
When asked whether he felt betrayed by Binotto’s decision, Vettel responded, “No.”

The German spoke about their relationship further, and said, “Good, it’s professional. I am old enough to understand and accept decisions. I had a long time to reflect on the aftermath. I don’t hold a grudge, I’m not the type.”
There are just about three more races to go for Vettel with Ferrari. Once that’s done, he will hope that he can strike a successful and fruitful relationship with his new team boss at Aston Martin F1.
