Fernando Alonso, if not for everyone, has been a breath of fresh air in the Formula 1 competition. The Spaniard surprised the entire grid with his pace in the AMR23 during the pre-season and then in the season opener. To solidify his stance, the two-time champion got on the podium for the second time in as many races. Alonso’s prolonged dedication and vigor to keep performing at the highest level are unparalleled. This could be the reason why his girlfriend shared a quote from Michael Jordan to draw comparisons.
Alonso is dating an Austrian journalist and TV presenter, Andrea Schlager. The Austrian always supports the 41-year-old and is her biggest fan. Following Alonso’s two podiums in 2023, there is renewed hope for everyone in the Alonso camp. This is all a result of hard work, as there are no miracles in F1. This is exactly the message that Alonso’s girlfriend conveyed with her Instagram story.

Schlager posted a quote from Michael Jordan on her story. The quote read, “I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games; 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game-winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”
Alonso is working on a similar storyline ever since his debut in 2001. The Spaniard retired, came back, and secured his first podium in seven years in 2021.

The Spaniard made everyone, especially sweat with his performances during the first two races. There is definitely a lot of hype around Aston Martin. However, Alonso is keeping expectations low and not tooting his own horn.
Speaking to Sky Sports F1, Alonso said, “I’m not thinking that high, to be honest. Actually, I don’t know exactly what position will be a good one for us. After testing, we were thinking to be in Q3 with both cars, score as many points as possible in these first couple of races, try not to make mistakes – it’s very easy to make a mistake.”
