Remember how Lando Norris was beating himself up after not being able to qualify higher in Q3 in Monaco? It wasn’t even Norris’ mistake that he was blocked, yet he apologized. Looks like Norris is not only mentoring Oscar Piastri about driving but also about talking to the media. The Rookie’s self-criticism after the Spanish GP left the Paya Army heartbroken despite the fact that Norris stood up for Piastri. What did Piastri say? Why was he beating himself up?

The result in Monaco was good after the shambolic display at the Miami GP. Looks like McLaren has taken a step further at this week’s Spanish GP. Lando Norris qualified in P3 and Oscar Piastri will start the race in P9 after qualifying in P10 after being helped by Pierre Gasly’s penalty for impeding other drivers. Nevertheless, whilst Lando Norris was not able to contain his happiness, Oscar Piastri was still low about him not getting up there next to Norris.

In a recent post-race interview, Oscar Piastri explained how it’s a shame that he did not finish further up. He beats himself up by suggesting how he messed up the all-important final lap, and that both cars could’ve made it to Top 5. He added that he just ran out of talent. Nevertheless, Lando Norris during the post-race interview stood up and suggested that Sunday will be a new day and that both he and Piastri will do their best to score good points.

According to a video uploaded by @81spiastri, Oscar Piastri said, “Got it done today. It’s a shame for myself. I think we were right there the whole qualifying, was on a good lap, and then braked too late into turn 10 and then went into the wet part of the track, so my lap was over from there. So it’s a shame, we could’ve had both cars there I think, just ran out of talent.”

Fans were heartbroken after listening to Oscar Piastri’s self-criticism. The Papaya army tried their best to lift up the spirit of the Rookie. Let’s see what they had to say about Piastri.
