Bernie Ecclestone Slams F1 Drivers After Kimi Raikkonen’s Exit: “They Have All Become Very, Very Much a Robot; Listening & Doing What They’re Told”

The final race of the 2021 season at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was the last in the long and distinguished career of Kimi Raikkonen. Having been in the sport for nearly twenty years, former F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone gave his thoughts on the Iceman.

Interestingly, the British mogul thinks that there won’t anyone like him and feels that the current drivers on the grid are robotic. But most importantly, Bernie thinks that Kimi is a fantastic person.

The Iceman is known for his no-nonsense character and his cold responses during press conferences. Hence, Ecclestone feels there won’t be anyone like him on the grid. Furthermore, Bernie feels that the current generation of drivers behave like robots.

Speaking to Sport1, the former F1 boss said, “Kimi as person is a super guy, as a driver, he is a race driver. He is what you want; he races; doesn’t take an awful of a notice of people. In fact, he gives them his opinion. So there isn’t any Kimi‘s today really I don’t think, that’s the problem. They all become very very much a robot, listening and doing what they are told, rather than doing what they think is the right thing to do.”

Speaking to Motorsports.com, the former Alfa Romeo driver said, “I wouldn’t have been doing this job for so long if I didn’t enjoy it. I enjoy racing, driving and solving the problems we face. I didn’t enjoy the rest at all, but that’s part of F1.”
