The Belgian GP didn’t give us a race, but it sure delivered with the memes. Up close and personal with the crew, the drivers lazing around and bored, F1 Twitter had its fun.

From voting on their driver for the day to the iconic Red Bull engineer falling- the most bizarre “race” of the season had a lot to give.

Teams’ twitter admins with the jokes

In a wait that felt like forever, the team’s admins spent their time on Twitter. It was what really got the memes flowing; especially after Pierre Gasly asked for some sausage on the track, the Alpha Tauri barbeque really got the party started. Especially for the fans at home, it was an entertaining side activity instead of looking on at the gray Spa circuit.

As time went by, drivers started looking for ways to keep entertained. This was a slow progression from boredom to restlessness, all perfect for some funny images on Twitter.

The other teams exposed their drivers for being memes in real life. With the cameras focused on the garages, the funny faces kept rolling in.

Later, Carlos Sainz got bored and let loose on his account and shared some very relatable pictures of him and Leclerc.

F1 fans take over the Belgian GP

While the teams had their fun, F1 fans dominated the Belgian GP hashtag. The best outcome of the event was Twitter deciding on their driver of the day. Bernd Maylander took the esteemed title and was hailed as the winner of the Belgian GP. The safety car truly did more laps around the circuit than the F1 cars; a situation Twitter found hilarious.

Because of the German’s incredible performance on the track, the constructor’s board had a massive update. Mercedes took a startling lead in the constructors with an F1 first of a 1-2-3 finish. Twitter shared what it thought was the ideal representation of the podium at Spa.
