Sebastian Vettel had another forgettable race last weekend at the Sakhir Grand Prix. As the season comes to an end, Ferrari seems to make it easier for Vettel to move on. Once again, a slow pit stop contributed to an unfortunate result for the German.
Ferrari stripped Vettel of a podium finish at Imola after they stacked a slow pit stop of 13.1 seconds. The slow pit stop struck again at the Sakhir Grand Prix. His first pit stop was of 4.5 seconds on lap 31 and he was stationary for 6.5 seconds during his next stop on Lap 54.
Vettel finished 12th in the Sakhir Grand Prix and was absolutely unimpressed by his performance. He said, “It is better not to talk about my race, it was irrelevant. Congratulations to Perez, I’m happy for him but equally sad for Russell.”

“I think that until the moment of the pit stop he had a great race, then I don’t know what happened. As far as we are concerned, nothing has worked. I had a hard time keeping up, I just defended myself. The speed was not good at all,” he further added.
Sebastian Vettel believes the equipment needs an overhaul
After having another no-points finish, the four-times world champion expressed that Ferrari needs some issues to deal with. He explained, “It’s tough enough for the guys, so I feel sorry for them, [The equipment] probably needs an overhaul on the design because it’s not the guys’ fault.”

However, the German admitted that his race had been ordinary even without the pit stops.

The circuit was not Ferrari friendly, to say the least. The Sakhir Grand Prix circuit saw some significant straights. The German had a tough time in the powerless Ferrari. Meanwhile, Charles Leclerc failed to prove himself as he crashed himself out during the starting lap.

However, there is a bright light at the end of Sebastian’s Ferrari tunnel. He will be happy to see his future team securing a double podium finish. Sergio Perez won the race as Sebastian’s teammate next year, Lance Stroll, finished P3. Maybe the newly rebranded Racing Point is exactly what the former champion needs to make a comeback.
