What did Ferrari F1 boss Mattia Binotto say?

Speaking ahead of the Italian GP when asked how much of a say Ferrari gets into who takes the second seat at Alfa Romeo next season, Mattia Binotto replied: “I think that’s really a choice of the team. The team are really independent on the choice of their driver, which is important for us as well.”

“It’s clear as well that Antonio, for us, is our reserve driver, he’s an Italian driver, he’s part of the Ferrari family, he’s a Ferrari driver. So for us it will be great to have him still driving next year. We believe that he is a good driver, and he deserves to have a seat next year.”

“As power unit supplier, obviously, I think we are always evaluating the collaboration, the partnership with team, and obviously, the driver choice is part of the evaluation,” concluded Binotto.

Always the same story for me in September: Giovinazzi frustrated with the uncertainty of his seat

The Ferrari academy driver, Antonio Giovinazzi, is understandably frustrated with the uncertainty of his seat. The Italian who is in his third season in Formula 1 is very well aware that many drivers are targeting his seat for the next season.

According to the driver’s market, Mercedes are pushing to land Nyck de Vries at the Swiss team. Whereas, Alpine wants Guanyu Zhou to promote in F1. However, Giovinazzi is eager to continue with Alfa Romeo next year, but the Italian driver reveals he has heard nothing from his boss, Frederic Vasseur.

As quoted by Motorsport, when asked if he heard anything about his future from his team boss, Antonio Giovinazzi replied: “No, I have no news yet. I have only been told that Valtteri is coming to Alfa. But I have not heard anything about myself,”

“Anyway, I don’t want to dwell on that too much, since I’m just wasting energy with it. Most of all, I want to be satisfied with my own performance and then see what others decide,” added Giovinazzi.
