As Formula 1 finds itself in the summer break, a new statistic emerges that for the last 14 years, the team which has led the constructor’s championship after the Hungarian GP has gone and won the title that year. For the last 8 years, it has been Mercedes leading the pack, but with 13 rounds completed in the 2022 season, Red Bull is the team dominating the standings.

The Milton Keynes outfit finds itself at the top of the table with 431 points to their name. Notably, it has a sizeable lead of 97 points over its rival, Ferrari, and seems to be the favorite to clinch the championship. The key to success for them has been their consistency and ability to adapt to different track conditions they travel to.
Under the new rules and regulations, the 8-time constructor winners, Mercedes has fallen behind in the pecking order, resulting in a title battle between Ferrari and Red Bull. Although the Italians have a car that can win races week in and week out, they have failed to make the most of their opportunities and have dropped the ball frequently.
Another important aspect of the raging bull’s triumph is that both sides of the garage are scoring big points consistently. The defending world champion, Max Verstappen is P1 with a haul of 258 points, while Sergio Perez is P3 with 173 points. The drivers are working together as a unit and are helping the team to bring home the title this year.

Red Bull boss refuses to count out Mercedes from the 2022 title race
In 2021, the Mercedes and Red Bull went head to head in a season-long duel. As a result, both teams sacrificed the development of the 2022 season in the quest of winning the 2021 title. Despite that, the Austrian team has set the pace benchmark and team boss. Christian Horner is content with the first half of the season. Despite that, he refuses to admit that the title is in the bag.

Speaking to the media, he commented, “The points tables look healthy and it’s a great way to sign off [going] into the summer break.”

“But there’s still a lot of racing to go.”
“Ferrari are quick and Mercedes are coming back into the game. There’s still a long, long way to go in this championship, plus a Sprint race.”
“We don’t take anything for granted. There’s still a lot of racing to do. And they’re very different venues.”
