Can you imagine Max Verstappen and Team Mercedes having a decent, plain, and straightforward conversation? Turns out it can happen sometimes! The British team and the Dutchman are two polar opposite entities in the world of Formula 1. They belong to two legendary rival camps that have given F1 some noteworthy moments.

Mercedes vs Red Bull is a fight, rivalry, and a legacy that everyone knows about. Especially since last year, things heated so much between the two teams, that digs, and vicious attacks on the smallest things were not missed. However, there was once a time that Verstappen spoke to the team nicely.

In an old Twitter thread, there was sweet talk between Verstappen and the Silver Arrows. Someone sent the team a funny mail wanting to reach F1 and giving the Dutch Lion’s name as a reference. Mercedes then tagged the driver, to which he replied, “my job application is at least the best from the ones you got send isn’t it?”

Mercedes also hinted at getting on a phone call with Verstappen to work alongside Lewis Hamilton. The 24-year-old then posted a hilarious picture of Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff calling him, titling it as “should I pick up guys??” but the Silver Arrows also had a fun response to that.

Who knew that these conversations (banter) are the only positive ones the two parties will have? Because 5 years later, they would get into a vile loop of just finding a way to get back at each other.

Mercedes vs Red Bull for Max Verstappen

These are not just the only conversations the team and the driver possibly had, though. As Helmut Marko has revealed, not just Red Bull but the Brackley outfit were interested in young Verstappen.

Marko said, “In the meantime, my dear friend Niki had joined in the plan and had also noticed this is an extraordinary talent. There was also a certain competition between Mercedes and Red Bull for the young Max Verstappen.”
