And the Formula 1 community is going to get a taste of what they bring to the table. With the banter they have with each other on social media, they might give the Mercedes and Haas admins a run for their money. But how exactly have they come into the F1 picture?

On Monday, Alpine F1’s parent company, Renault, announced that an investor group is buying a 24% stake in the team, investing a whopping $218 million. And who does this investor group consist of? Apart from Otro Capital and RedBird Capital Partners, you guessed it: Ryan Reynolds (and Rob McElhenney). But this isn’t the only sports team they’ve invested in. The pair took over the Welsh soccer club, Wrexham, in 2021 and turned its fortunes around. With Alpine 5th in the championship right now, Reynolds and McElhenney will try to work their magic in F1 too. But Alpine’s anticipated turnaround isn’t what fans are most looking forward to.
