No Austrian GP has won the championship since 2014

As reported by Reddit, every driver in the Turbo-Hybrid Era who has won the Austrian Grand Prix has failed to win the championship at the end of the season.

It is an interesting stat, as Mercedes have been the only team to win the championship in the Turbo-Hybrid era. So, they have the experience to mount a comeback in the season and regain control of the championship.

Red Bull and Max Verstappen would be hoping to change this stat by winning both the driver’s and the constructors’ championships at the end of the season.

If the past couple of races are any indicators, Mercedes do not have any answers to Max Verstappen’s pace right now. The Dutch driver could have arguably won 5 races in a row if not for his tire failure at Baku. He is in imperious form right now, which looks like continuing till the end of the season.
