The Dutch driver also achieved his first grand slam in his Formula One career at the Austrian Grand Prix last weekend. He dominated the race from start to finish and came home to extend his championship lead.

The one thing that is working in favor of Lewis Hamilton in his title fight with Max is his experience. This is the first time that Max is leading a championship in his racing career.

No Austrian GP has won the championship since 2014

As reported by Reddit, every driver in the Turbo-Hybrid Era who has won the Austrian Grand Prix has failed to win the championship at the end of the season.

It is an interesting stat, as Mercedes have been the only team to win the championship in the Turbo-Hybrid era. So, they have the experience to mount a comeback in the season and regain control of the championship.

Red Bull and Max Verstappen would be hoping to change this stat by winning both the driver’s and the constructors’ championships at the end of the season.

If the past couple of races are any indicators, Mercedes do not have any answers to Max Verstappen’s pace right now. The Dutch driver could have arguably won 5 races in a row if not for his tire failure at Baku. He is in imperious form right now, which looks like continuing till the end of the season.

Can Max Verstappen win his first British Grand Prix?

Red Bull would look to win at its first race at Silverstone since Mark Webber won in 2012. The Austrian team are in scintillating form as they have 5 consecutive races. Max Verstappen would also look forward to getting another win this season to make it 5 races on the bounce.

Max has never won in Silverstone which is the home race of his title rival Lewis Hamilton. He would very much like to upset the home crowd by denying their homegrown hero another British Grand Prix victory.
