Although Max Verstappen has been writing fresh descriptions of supremacy since the start of 2022, this year we have seen an old fox come back to fight, and that is Fernando Alonso. During the Miami GP, Alonso was cruising in the top three, demonstrating some incredible speed on the US circuit. The observations he made that day appear to have become a trademark since Charles Leclerc‘s assessment of his teammate Carlos Sainz leads to comparison to the two-time champion.
The Scuderia boys put on yet another display at the Austrian GP after their incredible recovery at the Canadian GP, where both of the Ferrari lads started their races from P10 and above. However, during the sprint where Leclerc struggled at P12, Carlos Sainz had made up his mind to deliver his best at the Red Bull track, as evidenced by his commanding P3 finish in the sprints. And later, despite having significant tire degradation, both Ferrari drivers put in their best performance of the season.

Early in the race, Sainz, who was already in a strong position, wasn’t allowed to switch places with Leclerc. Later, the Spanish driver received a 10-second penalty for violating track regulations. And during the closing stages, Sainz battled Sergio Perez for more than 3 laps, enabling Charles Leclerc to get a comfortable lead over the Mexican. Soon after the race, Charles Leclerc was seen praising his partner, as in a viral tweet, the Monegasque was found stating, “Carlos did a great job. I was aware Checo was coming, so I was trying to manage the hards. But Carlos made my life easier by doing a great defense. I could see it all on the screen which was quite exciting.”

Fans immediately thought of a similar incident that made them think of Fernando Alonso. So why are fans equating Charles Leclerc’s remarks with those of Fernando Alonso?

Charles Leclerc’s recent praise of Carlos Sainz made fans compare the Monegasque with Fernando Alonso

Leclerc was content with a P2. However, Carlos Sainz was not. It’s because, despite his best efforts, fate had other intentions for him, as the violation of track limits dropped him from P4 to P6, where he had been positioned in the main race.

Later, while the Spaniard was being praised heavily by Leclerc. The Monegasque’s remarks that he was watching everything that was happening behind drew the attention of the audience. It served as a reminder of Fernando Alonso’s comment regarding Lance Stroll during the Miami Grand Prix, where the 41-year-old said, “ Which position is Lance? Great move into Turn 1.”

The commentary crew was astounded by the radio communication and questioned how Alonso, who was halfway around the lap, could have observed the struggle from his cockpit. These same observations have left the fans to make a comparison between Leclerc with Alonso. Some reactions are given as follows.

Some fans were seen taking jibes at Ferrari’s team, particularly at Xavi, the engineer of Leclerc.

One of the fans was also seen hailing Leclerc about his tone to praise Carlos Sainz.
