Carlos Sainz has been silent about his next season with the Italians. Seeing Ferrari this season, many have already concluded that Sainz made a mistake. The manner in which Sebastian struggles with the car must send a chill down Sainz’s spine.
Although Carlos was performing exceptionally well with the English Constructors, he was not up on the podium often. Yet, his positions and points are far better than the Ferrari No.5. But will he be able to maintain that with Ferrari?
When La Gazzetta Dello asked the Spaniard about his views on the subject, the answer baffled many.
“I want to win. And I feel Ferrari is the best opportunity to succeed in the future.
“I have followed this brand for as long as I can remember, it is a name that means a lot, I am convinced that the team will improve and can give me a competitive car. The decision was simple,” replied the Spaniard.
Several fans would laugh at the possibility, but if Sainz sees the scope, he should pursue it. However, it will be better for the Spaniard to have a good look at the car before racing with it. Once he unlocks the mystery of the car, it will be far easier for him.
Sainz understands the stress he will be under at Ferrari. He will replace Vettel and team, and race alongside Leclerc, a driver that has outperformed a former champion. Thus, he will have to be extra cautious of every step he takes at the Italian Camp.
Sainz presently is P10 at the driver’s championship, and he would not want to tumble further down. He comments that he has seen the plan of Ferrari for the next year and that it convinces him to carry on with the contract.
“I’m going to challenge one of the fastest talents, and Leclerc has two more years of experience with the team. But I know I can play it,” remarked a confident Sainz.
Ferrari might look weak this year, but the team principal promises a proper turn around next year. The crew promises to fix the car and give its racers a fighting chance. However, it is easier said than done. Only time will tell how far Ferrari have fared on their promise.
Even the Ferrari CEO was quoted saying earlier that even though the team has everything they need to compete, they will have to implement it well. Carlos signed his contract with the team with a lot of confidence. The Italians would not want to destroy that and disappoint another racer on the grid.
