McLaren had a great weekend at the Italian Grand Prix. The Woking-based team finished 1-2 for the first time since 2010 in Canada with Ricciardo taking the win and Norris finishing behind him. When asked if he regrets his move to Ferrari, Carlos Sainz mentioned he is having the best time at the Italian team.

Sainz drove for McLaren in 2019 and 2020, and he was a part of the reason for the British team’s resurgence to where they are right now. But mentioned that he does not miss driving for them.

The answer is no; I do not miss McLaren: Carlos Sainz

As reported by Marca.com, the Spanish driver stated that nobody asked him if he missed McLaren when he finished p2 and almost was on pole at Monaco. He mentions he finds the question strange as he is having the best year at the Italian team.

“In Monaco, no one told me ‘it’s good that you went to Ferrari with almost pole and almost victory’, nor in Hungary does anyone ask you about McLaren and, suddenly, they win a race and everyone else ‘if you had been in McLaren you could have won.'” said Sainz.

“The answer is no. I do not miss McLaren, I am having the best year of my life at Ferrari, I would not change it for anything, time will tell if I was wrong, but I am very confident in this project, not winning a race but in the next years,” stated the Ferrari driver.

“It will be a ‘reset’ of F1, in general. It will be a very big change in the last 20 years, a fresh start for everyone. I ask to be as prepared as possible for that change. We have been working on that car since January, 90% of the time in the simulator as well.

“The factory talks and meetings … everything for that car. No idea how the others will arrive, but we are not leaving anything to do to fight to win again,” concluded Sainz.
