Ferrari signed Carlos Sainz after his successful two-year stint with McLaren. Sainz, along with Lando Norris, helped McLaren to their best finish since 2012, P3. Ferrari, on the other hand, had a hard season, to say the least, as they finished P6 on the standing.

In a recent interview, Carlos Sainz described his feeling during his negotiations with Ferrari. He said, “You start out by trying not to believe too much what happened when they first got in touch.

Carlos Sainz looks back at his relationship with McLaren
McLaren signed the Spaniard to replace the former Spaniard champion, Fernando Alonso. After a one year contract with Renault, McLaren signed Sainz for two years. During those two years, the confidence McLaren showed in him helped him grow into a better driver.
McLaren has also been clear on their new team culture of openness and honesty. This fresh approach helped the team and the drivers significantly; both McLaren drivers claimed podiums for the team and drove the team to the top-three finish on the standing.
