After the commotion of Carlos Sainz being replaced in Ferrari by Lewis Hamilton in 2024 broke out, many fans started wondering what this meant for the Spaniard driver. While Ferrari was quick to renew Charles Leclerc’s contract, the Spaniard was left out of the spotlight. Now that Lewis Hamilton has signed a contract with Ferrari, we know why.

Although there have been many interviews covering Lewis Hamilton‘s switch from Mercedes, Sainz has been mostly silent. But now it looks like Sainz is on the move to start removing Ferrari from his life.

After the shocking shift in Ferrari’s direction for 2025, Carlos Sainz has started to express his disappointment with what happened. The driver who has been loyal to Ferrari for the last 3 seasons was put on the sideline before being replaced by Lewis Hamilton. Before entering his 4th and final season with Ferrari, he put out a statement on Twitter to break the silence.

In the post, Carlos Sainz finally said, “Following today’s news, Scuderia Ferrari and myself will part ways at the end of 2024.” After acknowledging the change officially, he stated, “We still have a long season ahead of us and, like always, I will give my absolute best for the Team and for the Tifosi all around the world.” Sainz wants to make sure that his fans know that during his last season with Ferrari, he will do his best.

He decided to not leave fans hanging and told them, “News about my future will be announced in due course.” While the world still settles down from the shattering news, Carlos is preparing for his current season in Ferrari. But on the other hand, he has decided to move past Ferrari in life and one instance of this was noticed when he took out Ferrari highlights from his Instagram page as revealed by f1gossippofficial.

“Where do we go now?” – is the question for Carlos Sainz

Like Axl Rose from Gun and Roses said in Sweet Child of Mine, the question of the hour for Sainz is, “Where do we go?” And although the fact that the Spaniard has no team after 2024, it looks like he has a buffet of teams to pick from. The 2024 season will end with many teams having open seats for Sainz to fit in and in most of the teams, he fits like a glove.

Some of his major prospects are Mercedes, Red Bull, Aston Martin, and Audi. To be honest, a switch to Mercedes would sound like poetic justice. Replacing Lewis Hamilton in the team that he left would be interesting, but what would be better for him would be beating the Briton from Mercedes. While this is something many fans would like to see, the other teams also seem like an equally great opportunity.

Red Bull is going to have an opening at the end of 2024 with Sergio Perez’s exit from the team. But that does seem less likely than Daniel Ricciardo, who is ready to put on the Red Bull uniform once again. But only the future will tell what happens after the season. That leaves the option of Aston Martin. Fernando Alonso is ready to make his exit from Aston Martin after his contract ends which gives a seat that Sainz can take.

The choice might feel like a gamble, but one with great odds of success; Audi. Although the team is yet to be formed, 2025 will be one season that Sauber will have a seat before it changes the team name. With that will come new management and structural changes where, if entered at the right time, Carlos Sainz can mold his way in. Irrespective of which team Sainz decides to join, the outcome depends on his performance. That being said, which team would you like to see Carlos Sainz join for 2025?
