Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz recently dropped a bold claim ahead of the 2022 F1 season. Sainz is all set to enter his second season with the Maranello team. He had an impressive first season with the team, finishing best of the rest in drivers’ standings. As F1 enters a new era with a major overhaul in rules, Ferrari will look to find their way back to the top. Driver duo Leclerc and Sainz have painted a positive picture in the pre-season tests earlier this week.

The Italian team made a strong comeback in the 2021 season after a disastrous 2020 campaign. More importantly, the team has been working on their 2022 challenger F1-75 for a better part of the last season. In a joy-inspiring development, Ferrari are believed to have overcome the 20 bhp deficit in their latest car.

F1 insiders like Christian Horner and Lando Norris believe the Maranello team will perform admirably this season.

Though there are some reservations about the innovative aero solutions in the new F1-75, things looked good on track in Barcelona. After a strong season and a plethora of experience behind him, Sainz is expecting to give some fight at the top in 2022. As the new regulations sweep over, the new season is coming with a lot of unpredictability. But as it stands, many insiders believe Ferrari and McLaren will gun for regular wins and podiums.

Now, a championship challenge brings enormous pressure with it, as we saw in the last season.

Carlos Sainz is not afraid of the championship pressure

Ferrari man Sainz has been in Formula 1 for a while. The relentless, strong-headed Spaniard is a formidable force behind the wheel, and his skills were on display last season for everyone to witness. Going into the new era of F1, many expect Sainz to mount a championship-winning performance.

When asked if Sainz was afraid of the pressure that comes with the battle, he had a rather straightforward answer. “Pressure doesn’t scare me because I’ve dreamed of it all my life. I want to fight for the Grand Prix wins and the world title. I’m working in that direction,” said Sainz as reported by Motorsport.com .

“Last year we had a chance to fight for pole position and for the win in Monaco and it was the first time in my career. I loved that. So I’m looking forward to the next opportunity,” added the Spaniard.
