McLaren has recently been like the unseasonal clouds. The ones that promise a lot yet don’t deliver. McLaren has promised a lot in the past decade but hasn’t been able to deliver. Despite the failure to fulfill the promise, Zak Brown recently praised Oscar Piastri. The untimely praise made the fans furious as the statement backfired in Brown’s face. Fans expressed their disagreement and frustration by trolling the CEO and the team. Let’s see how they did it.
McLaren’s start to the 2023 season has been far from ideal. The Papaya team is struggling to even score points, let alone catch the front runners. Zak Brown has already begun a technical reshuffle at McLaren, as he was unsatisfied with the pace of development. And the new wind tunnel is bound to come online by the end of the year. While things may look promising for next year, this year will probably be sacrificed owing to the number of changes being done.

Despite all the negatives, the McLaren CEO looks toward the positives. Brown recently praised Oscar Piastri, mentioning how he will be at the same pace as Lando Norris soon. He explained how the two will push each other harder toward excellence. McLaren has two great drivers if provided with a competitive car can get to the front of the grid. However, things did not go well for the McLaren Boss and this stunt fired right back in his face as fans expressed themselves on F1’s official Twitter post.
According to Formula1.com, Zak Brown said “And I think early indications are that Oscar will be on the same pace as Lando, and the two of them will push each other hard. And that’s what you want out of your two drivers, to know that it’s kind of down to you, as a team, to provide them with a car to get to the front.”
The fans saw right through Zak Brown and conveyed their anger and frustration toward the boss and the team. Brown talks about the drivers pushing each other in a competitive car but fails to even provide a point-scoring car. Papaya Team’s pace was trolled and fans react to the McLaren CEO hyping up Oscar Piastri during such a crucial and hard time for the team.

Fans took to Twitter to express their concern regarding McLaren and Zak Brown as the statement blows up in Brown’s face. Some trolled McLaren’s pace by expressing how Piastri already matched Norris’ pace by both of them being at the back of the grid. While others suggested that the car is so bad that even a star driver like Norris cannot drive it.
Thought he was already matching Lando's pace, that is why they are both at the back of the field. 😂

Don't think so. Even Lando, who is good, can't drive your F1 car recently. Sort the car out, then we'll see.

Some believed that the McLaren CEO is saying all of this just because he risked a lot over signing Oscar Piastri pointing toward the Alpine-Piastri saga and firing of Daniel Ricciardo a year earlier.
ofc he would say that given that he risked a lawsuit over OP https://t.co/ysedwcIo2L

Zak is far and away too focused on indy to care about F1. The cars are far cheaper to build, the racing is more popular in the States where he really wants to be full time. F1 is a distraction to Zak. He won't say it but it's becoming rather clear.

After McLaren’s introduction of the driver’s program and the appointment of Emanuele Pirro as the head, some suggested Brown is only focused on the IndyCar series and not F1. The drivers of the program have IndyCar background. Whether McLaren is able to step up and provide a competitive car is still unsure.
