Charles Leclerc and Other F1 Drivers React to the Return of the Turkish Grand Prix

Turkish Grand Prix returns to the world of Formula 1 after 9 long years. The news was revealed by the official Formula 1 handle via Twitter. Starting in 2005, the Turkish Grand Prix was a favorable destination for drivers. However, due to a difference of opinion as far as annual costs are concerned, it was called off from 2012.

Formula 1 has also updated the race calendar for 2020. The Turkish Grand Prix is scheduled to take place on November 13. The main race day would be on November 15. F1 would then make two trips to Bahrain. The last race would be conducted in Abu Dhabi on December 13.

F1 scenes in Turkey

Scuderia Ferrari absolutely dominated the Turkish Grand Prix while it was on the Formula 1 calendar for 6 years. The 2011 race saw Sebastian Vettel triumph over everyone. However, things have changed as Mercedes have settled in as the dominating force in the paddock.

The Brackley-based outfit took this opportunity to remind fans of how the Silver Arrows have changed the game for good.

Racing Point took a step ahead and played with words while revealing the big news. Taking a dig at Turkey, they tweeted ā€œTurkey is back on the menuā€.

Ferrariā€™s Charles Leclerc and Hassā€™ Romain Grosjean retweeted, clearly excited about the news. Considering the success Ferrari has enjoyed on the track, the onus would be on the young Monegasque to clinch the top step. However, Lewis Hamilton is not one to back away from a fight.

Sebastian Vettel has an impressive record on the track. Heā€™d undoubtedly be looking forward to reliving his glory days.

Following the pandemic, it was fairly difficult to conduct the races. However, Formula 1 has worked efficiently to spread out the Championship across 17 races.

The revival of the Turkish Grand Prix has spiced up the season. Hopefully, it will be carried out properly and will be turned into a recurring event soon enough.
