Charles Leclerc Didn’t End My Ferrari Journey: Sebastian Vettel

Sebastian Vettel is just three races away from closing his chapter with Ferrari. He will move on to Aston Martin next season. He admits he had an unfortunate season; however, Vettel is cheerful about the future and looking forward to a comeback with Aston Martin.
In an interview, Vettel answered whether Leclerc’s arrival impacted his decision to close the Ferrari chapter. Vettel clarified that Charles Leclerc had nothing to do with his move to Aston Martin.
He said, “Charles has nothing to do with it.” (Ferrari downfall)

“He has to look at the journey in its entire duration: after the peaks of 2017 and 2018, last year there was no progression and this year was even more complicated for several reasons.
“Yet we pushed hard to get back competitive. But I don’t think like that, about ups and downs: I was part of this team for six years and I was the first to want to help to recover,” he further pointed out.

Undoubtedly, Ferrari has had one of its weakest seasons this year. However, Charles Leclerc has put up some excellent performances driving the SF1000. Meanwhile, Vettel is sitting down at P13 on the driver’s championships.

He admitted, “This year’s season was very difficult and I admit that I even had doubts about my own abilities. I haven’t gotten anywhere this season and relations with the team are not the easiest either. The love affair is over but I am still motivated.”

However, the German is certain that Leclerc has a bright future in Formula 1. Taking about his teammates, he said, “They’ve all been strong, but he’s [Leclerc] the most promising. It will be one of the future stars. I’d be surprised if it didn’t. “
Vettel’s new project with Aston Martin opens up a lot of possibilities for the next season. There will be a transitioning period to understand the team and the car, but he is positive about the move and optimistic about both their progress.

Vettel will look forward to giving his all in the remaining three races. The German had pointed out that he has three to seven years left on the grid; he will work hard to claim his fifth world championship before retiring from Formula 1.
