It has been exactly 7 years since we lost a rising F1 star in Jules Bianchi. The young driver lost his life succumbing to injuries he got in the 2014 Japanese Grand Prix. But his legacy lives on through his godson and Ferrari’s golden boy, Charles Leclerc.

The Ferrari driver always speaks fondly of Bianchi whenever given the opportunity. He, arguably more than most, sorely misses the former F1 driver on his death anniversary. He took to his Instagram and posted a picture with him in his remembrance.

Interestingly, Sky F1 presenter, Natalie Pinkham, revealed that she once referred to Leclerc by ‘Jules’. But the Monegasque’s response truly won her heart and showed the kind of man he is.

“Once, in an interview, I called Charles ‘Jules’ by mistake. I went bright red and apologized profusely.”

“He said ‘why say sorry? It’s the best compliment I could get’” wrote Pinkham in the tweet.

Leclerc never shies away from speaking about the role Bianchi played in his life and career early on. He also expressed in an interview that his godfather deserved to be with the Iconic Reds more than him.

Both Bianchi and Leclerc were part of the Ferrari Driver’s Academy in their early years. The current Ferrari driver revealed Bianchi’s skills and talent were deserving of the seat on the Italian team more than him.

“There was definitely lots more to come. Results like in Monaco, when he was with Marussia, told us a lot about his talent. He definitely deserved the Ferrari seat more than I did, but unfortunately, other things were decided for him. I’m pretty sure he would have shown probably more than what I do. He was extremely talented,” said the Ferrari driver.

Many feel that Leclerc is continuing the legacy of Bianchi in F1. But it is utterly heartbreaking to see that both drivers are not racing at the pinnacle of motorsport at the same time. Hopefully, Leclerc can continue in his career and achieve what his godfather had envisioned for him.
