Charles Leclerc Takes Over as F1 22 Ambassador After Prolonged Lewis Hamilton Reign

Charles Leclerc is flying this season, leading the 2022 world championship. Aside from the top of the drivers’ standing, the Monegasque driver will also appear on the F122 cover.
The 24-year-old Ferrari driver has become the official ambassador for the Formula One video game series. This season, Leclerc would be appearing as the main cover star instead of Lewis Hamilton, who was the main cover star in the past installments. Further, fellow young F1 drivers Lando Norris and George Russell will also appear beside Leclerc on F122.

However, this is not the first-time Leclerc appears on an F1 game cover. He appeared alongside Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton in the F1 2021 cover. Also, Hamilton and the 2021 F1 world champion will appear on the F122 but on the champions edition which will also feature world champions, Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso.
The Ferrari driver is thrilled to be the cover star of the F122. Leclerc has been following the F1 game series for a long time and even streamed F1 games on Twitch during the pandemic.

EA Sports didn’t add Charles Leclerc to the cover of the F122 because he’s the championship leader. But the developers want to represent young talents in motorsport who will define the new era of F1. Leclerc has the potential to become an F1 world champion.

F1 Senior Creative Director at Codemasters, Lee Mather reported to PlanetF1, “F1 22 is celebrating the best young talent in F1, and we are excited to build a deeper relationship with Charles Leclerc. Established as part of the new era of Formula 1, we will work with Charles throughout the season to bring our players closer to the action.”

Leclerc is showcasing phenomenal performance this season, bagging three podiums from the last four races which include two race wins. The Monegasque driver is comfortably leading the title race with 86 points and the next driver to him is the reigning champion Max Verstappen with only 59 points.
