Charles Leclerc Talks About His Fanboy Moment With Michael Schumacher From His Karting Days

Charles Leclerc has been a Ferrari driver since 2019, in the wake of having driven a season for Sauber. Leclerc’s fantasy has consistently been to turn into a Ferrari driver. The Ferrari driver is perhaps the hottest prospects in the realm of motorsport and is viewed as a future F1 world champion.

During a break in kart testing in the mid-2000s, at Circuit Paul Ricard, Leclerc and a portion of his rivals were welcome to the neighboring F1 track to meet Schumacher where he was testing at the French setting with Ferrari.
Taking to Twitter, Leclerc has now shared an image of himself meeting the seven-time World Drivers’ Championship victor. Michael was signing their overalls.

Back at the time, Schumacher was driving for Ferrari, and Leclerc wrote: “I never thought I would be driving for the same team he was driving for back then.”
What’s more, he’s uncovered how a gesture from the German left a major impact on him as he was making his first strides in motorsport.

He added: “I was very, very impressed, that is the biggest thing I remember.”
“To tell you exactly what we spoke about is difficult because the only thing I remember is looking at his red overalls, looking at him, and being just as a normal child would be, watching Michael at that time.”
It was certainly a special feeling for Charles Leclerc to meet his idol as a kid.

“It was very special. I remember coming into the paddock, we had an opportunity to see him. It was all very exciting. It was a test day for us on the karting track. I asked him to sign my overall. Then he had to go to the engineers.”
“He was very nice, we were lucky in the paddock, nobody there. He took a bit of time to talk to us. It was really nice.”
