The Monegasque Charles Leclerc finally saw the chequered flag and finished a race at home. He ended his unfortunate streak, which stretched out for many years of not seeing the finish line.

However, Leclerc still went home pretty disappointed. This time, the Ferrari man missed a chance to win his home race, and through no fault of his own as well. Subsequently, Leclerc has made his feelings known after missing out on the win because of Ferrari.

Charles Leclerc told to watch his words by former world champion

Leclerc, speaking out against the mistakes of his team, Scuderia Ferrari, was extensively talked about. And we can’t blame the Monegasque as the miscommunication cost him the win at his home Grand Prix.

But Leclerc’s outbursts have been catching a lot of media attention. And this has provoked a certain former world champion to give his thoughts on the whole scenario.

“…you can only criticise your team so many times before there becomes a PR problem for the team. Ferrari are not the people who will give way here. If you’ve got a driver versus Ferrari, Ferrari will always win. So, technically or diplomatically, you have to watch it a bit.” said Damon Hill, the British former world champion.

“It’s not even from first to second, it’s from first and fourth, because after the first mistakes we’ve done another one. I love my team and I’m sure that will come back stronger. It hurts a lot,” concluded Leclerc.

This is the criticism that made Hill speak out and issue Leclerc a warning. Even rightly so, more public criticism will not be helpful for the Ferrari camp.

But now both the driver and the team need to move ahead from this situation and focus on the coming races. After a miserable end to the race in Barcelona and an ill-fated Monaco GP, let’s hope Ferrari will do better in Baku.
