Apart from going relentlessly on track at 200 mph, F1 drivers often participate in several off-track challenges. It is a good pressure-free time to just enjoy a fun challenge every now and then between races. Although back in the day, Charles Leclerc would not have wanted to fail at a simple challenge during his F2 days. The Ferrari driver stuttered at a simple question that would have even displeased the King of England.

Leclerc was with his Prema Racing teammate Antonio Fuoco taking the Emoji Challenge in 2017. The Monegasque was doing well at this fun and simple challenge, guessing the motorsport term, denoted by emojis.

As per the YouTube video by Prema Racing, Leclerc got clueless, when they showed him the Emojis of a Mountain and the then Prince Charles of the UK. The 2017 F2 champion should have guessed the term easily, as it was his home country town, Monte Carlo (Monte = Mountain and Carlo = Charles in Italian).

Leclerc said pointing towards current King Charles’ picture, “We better take this one out ’cause we’re really going to look like idiots. Just cause I have a memory lapse otherwise I know exactly who this is.”

He was embarrassed and shocked that it was Monte Carlo that is in Monaco, his native country. While Leclerc was trying to guess it in French, his teammate Fuoco quickly guessed it by connecting it with Italian. Either way, Leclerc may not have pleased King Charles of England with his 50 seconds of “memory lapse”.

Leclerc often has such moments when he forgets or cannot answer such challenges. With F1 hosting the Grill the Grid competition every year, the Ferrari driver will have to prepare extensively.

When Charles Leclerc was floored by his former Ferrari teammate Sebastian Vettel

In the 2019 F1 Grill the Grid competition, Charles Leclerc was with his teammate Sebastian Vettel, trying to answer some Ferrari trivia questions. The duo was given a blow horn and a service bell respectively in a rapid-fire-like scenario.

The first question that again showed Leclerc’s memory lapse about Monaco was an audio question. The Ferrari duo had to guess the circuit by listening to an onboard lap audio, which was from the Monaco circuit.

While both Vettel and Leclerc initially guessed it as Baku, Vettel listened further and answered correctly as Monaco. Charles was clueless as to how it was the tight twisty circuit of the Principality. On this, Seb explained to him how it is so slow through the corners. Leclerc was once again embarrassed to forget his home track.

Leclerc further faltered badly on another major question related to Ferrari. They had to name as many Ferrari world champions as they can in 15 seconds. Leclerc started with Michael Schumacher but later went clueless and Sebastian stole the show.

The German driver named each and every world champion for the Scuderia, except for Niki Lauda and Alberto Ascari. It was a sweep that helped Vettel beat Leclerc in this fun trivia challenge.
