Formula 1’s managing director Ross Brawn is in the news after rumors came out that linked him to a move to Scuderia Ferrari. Multiple sources said that the F1 technical director is chosen as Mattia Binotto’s replacement at the Italian stable. Amid all this, Brawn revealed the next chapter in life.

In a recently published a column on Formula 1’s official website, the Ferrari legend penned down, “I will now watch F1 from my sofa, cheering and cursing as an F1 fan, pleased that the sport is in a fantastic place and has such a fantastic future.”

“Now is the right time for me to retire. We have done the bulk of the work, and we are in a consolidation period now,further stated the 68-year-old.

The Brawn GP owner also revealed, ”There’s a new car coming in 2026, but that’s four years away, quite distant for me, so it’s better the next group of people take on that mantle. I believe I’m leaving F1 in a great place.”

Sources linked Ross Brawn to a potential move to Ferrari

After a rollercoaster season for Scuderia Ferrari in 2022, team principal Mattia Binotto sent in his resignation. Despite being factors for both the driver’s and constructors’ championship, the team from Italy fell short of their target.

Moreover, the relationship between Charles Leclerc and Binotto fell apart, which further made the chairman John Elkann lose confidence in the Italian. As the Maranello-based team was on the hunt for Binotto’s replacement, Ross Brawn was the name that came up on top.

Brawn has always been a renowned name in Ferrari and F1. He is regarded as the mastermind that helped Ferrari and Michael Schumacher win multiple titles in Formula 1. But if Brawn is calling it quits, it means someone else will take up Binotto’s place.
