Red Bull Affirms ‘Internal Investigation’ Amidst Shocking Aston Martin F1 Controversy

The Green Red Bull incident might not be over as of now. Despite the FIA giving a thumbs up to Aston Martin’s latest upgrade package ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix. Red Bull team principal Christian Horner revealed the team will do an internal investigation to make sure that their IP is secure.
Aston Martin has turned in a very similar-looking package to Red Bull in Barcelona which has gotten them the name of ‘Green Red Bull’. Horner mentioned FIA made him aware of the situation earlier this week. His main concern as he revealed that to make sure that the IP of the team has not been abused.

Horner stated that there has been some transfer of team personnel between the two teams over the season. But currently, he is not pointing fingers at anyone until they do their own internal investigation into the matter.

He also cheekily mentioned that he was in a way flattered that Aston Martin decided to copy their sidepods design, “Imitation is the biggest form of flattery at the end of the day. And it’s no coincidence we’ve had a few individuals who have transferred from Red Bull to Aston Martin over the winter and the early part of this season,” said Horner.

“We will have an internal investigation. We’ve got our own software protections, we know exactly where our software is looked at and where it is controlled.

It’s the job of the regulator, the FIA because they have the access and we rely very much on them to ensure there is no transfer of IP (intellectual property) and no abuse of that,” said the Red Bull team boss.
Who Owns the Red Bull F1 Team?
It would be interesting to see what conclusions they draw from the internal investigations into the matter. Let’s hope someone has not abused the IP of the team. It would be disheartening to see an F1 team copy the designs of another team on the grid to get ahead.

But this would be a blow to the Red Bull team if Aston Martin catches up to them in 2022. Let’s see if the upgrades make any impact on the performance of the car in Barcelona.
