In a recent interview, the Red Bull Team Principal revealed candid details about whom he admires in the sport and why. And he also talked about his newfound popularity amongst the non-F1-watching people due to the Netflix series ‘Drive to Survive’.

The Americans are more used to watching NASCAR and IndyCar but DTS made sure they get interested in F1 after watching the insider stories of the people in the paddocks.

Speaking of the docuseries, the interviewer asked Horner, “The interview wouldn’t be complete unless you were asked about “Drive to Survive,” a show that has brought a lot of popularity to Formula One. You’ve become a central figure in the series and your popularity has risen too. How has “Drive to Survive” impacted you behind just what happens at the track?”

Horner, taking a witty approach for answering the question, said, “It means when we go to a restaurant it’s not just my wife (Geri Halliwell) that gets approached these days.”

Of course, Horner’s wife is the famed Spice Girls singer Geri Halliwell, known all over the world.

Christian Horner talks about DTS’s impact on the popularity of F1

Christian Horner, one of the principal figures of F1, has praised the Netflix docuseries on multiple occasions. Formula 1, one of the most dangerous sports in the world, has an international calendar, and amazing fans, but they have always wanted to gain more popularity in the United States region. With the release of DTS, they have achieved that goal.

The 4 season of Drive to Survive is currently in production. And the interviewer posed a simple question to Horner, saying, “Are you a fan of the show?”

Horner said, “I think it’s been fantastic for Formula One in showing some of the characters, some of the challenges, some of the rivalries behind the scenes. And I think Episode 4 (of the season currently being filmed) is going to be the best yet.”

Fans are hoping to see get a spectacular insider perspective on the 2021 Championship fight between Red Bull and Mercedes in the new DTS season. While the release date has not been revealed yet, Nicholas Latifi did give his fans a peek at the clapboard on his Instagram a few weeks ago. Speculations say that the new season will release in early 2022.
