The first on-track session of the 2024 season hasn’t yet begun, but the world of Formula 1 is already erupting with one breaking news after the other. However, this second mega news from the circus is not a joking matter. In fact, it’s perhaps the most controversial news that has come out of the sport in recent times, and it involves Red Bull boss Christian Horner.

By now, we are all aware of the ongoing internal drama in the Red Bull camp regarding an investigation over claims of inappropriate behavior toward a female colleague. The claims made waves in F1 and the Red Bull camp as the longest-serving boss on the grid was internally “advised to voluntarily resign.” Now, after Horner made his stance clear on the allegations, his wife has also broken her silence.

Per the Dutch publication De Telegraaf, when Christian Horner was asked about these allegations, he said, “I completely deny these claims.” And his wife and former Spice Girl, Geri Halliwell, is standing by him. As quoted by the Sun, a source close to Geri Halliwell said, “Geri has been in floods of tears all weekend while looking after her kids. She is insisting Christian has done nothing wrong.

Another source told the Daily Mail“Geri is in full lockdown and not talking to anyone at the moment. [She] seems to be simply too upset to engage with anyone. Just lots of tears. She will stand by him and be at his side just as much as she always has been. She never misses a race and that will not change.” Christian and Geri have always shared a loving relationship, as highlighted in his 2023 interview with The Telegraph.

After splitting with his long-time partner Beverley Allen in 2014, the Red Bull team boss and the Spice Girl started dating. “Life works in mysterious ways. I didn’t marry Geri because she’s a Spice Girl. I married her because I fell in love with her,” Horner expressed. As he and Geri stand in solidarity, this news has come amid another tricky situation in Red Bull.

After the demise of the Austrian brand’s owner, Dietrich Mateschitz, there’s been a reported internal power struggle between Christian Horner and Helmut Marko. A few months ago, even Marko was in the line of fire with rumors of him vacating his position after a falling-out consumed the F1 media. Even then, massive repercussions were expected, and they are now as well. However, before any serious and final decisions are made, the Red Bull company will conduct a thorough investigation.

Christian Horner’s future depends on Red Bull’s findings

The accuser allegedly went straight to the Red Bull HQ in Austria with their complaints, given Horner’s position in the racing department. This is exactly why Red Bull is investigating it personally, not the Milton Keynes-based F1 setup. They issued a statement showcasing their intent to conduct a thorough investigation before taking any actions.

The statement read, “After being made aware of certain recent allegations, the company launched an independent investigation. This process, which is already underway, is being carried out by an external specialist barrister. The company takes these matters extremely seriously, and the investigation will be completed as soon as practically possible. It would not be appropriate to comment further at this time.”
