In an interview on The Diary of A CEO, Horner shared, “It just felt like there was a window of opportunity, so you know I’ve made sure I got to meet Adrian and I built up a relationship with him and his then-wife and then managed to convince him to come and join the team.”
“That was a litmus moment because then suddenly people woke up and say wow if Adrian Newey is prepared to come here, he must see something he believes in,” further asserted the Red Bull team principal.
Adrian Newey joined the Austrian team from McLaren in 2006 after contract negotiations with the British team failed. Ever since he arrived at the team, the outlook and performance of the Bulls have changed as they’ve picked up six driver’s championships and four constructors’ championships with one more to come at the end of the 2022 F1 season.
