Since its dawn, Formula 1 has always been a male dominant sport. Only a few females, the likes of Desire Wilson, Giovanna Amati, and Lella Lombardi have made it to the pinnacle of Motorsports. As a step to change this homogenous state of affairs, an all-female driver series was announced last year. The F1 Academy is set to replace the Jamie Chadwick-dominated W-series. And the ex-Williams reserve driver, Susie Wolff, has been entrusted with a position of responsibility.

Lewis Hamilton has arguably been the lone torchbearer of rights and diversity, and it is time that a woman is also at the helm of these affairs. Susie Wolff has been appointed as the Managing Director of the F1 Academy. And it has the F1 fans along with Hamilton joining forces to applaud the feat. With all boxes ticking in her favor, the F1 world is elated to see her joining GM Bruno Michel to conduct affairs of the F1 Academy.

Lewis Hamilton took to Instagram to congratulate Susie. He wrote, “Major!! Can’t wait to see @f1academy grown with @susie_wolff leading it” Lewis was not the only one who was overjoyed to see this appointment. A lot of fans joined him to see the representation going up a notch.

A woman leading the women who want to make a mark in motorsport. Official Post of F1 stated, “A pioneer both on-track and in management off-track, Wolff will drive forward F1’s commitment to maximising opportunities for female drivers in motorsport.” and the fans couldn’t agree more.

Lewis Hamilton, after posting the appreciation on Instagram Story, even took to Twitter to show his support and appreciation towards Susie Wolff.

The fans were quick to recall the duo’s history, including Karting days and more than a decade-long friendship.
