Paddy Power, one of the UK’s leading bookmakers, recently announced that they will pay out on both Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen for the F1 championship win. The international betting operator took this equalizing measure after a controversial championship decider in Abu Dhabi cost Hamilton his record title.

The season finale was a thriller that kept giving one twist after another through the course of 58 laps. The final moments of that race witnessed some highly controversial decisions from the race committee. While some think that race director Masi is at fault, few out there are lauding his judgment in the high-pressure situation.

Keeping in mind how the final laps went down, Paddy Power decided to pay out on both the drivers for the Abu Dhabi GP win. “That’s just how we roll folks, consider justice served,” stated the bookmaker.

Betting organization to pay out on Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen

Latifi’s crash inadvertently helped Max Verstappen win his maiden title. Till that point, Hamilton looked set to clinch his record 8th title; a feat that would statistically make him the greatest F1 driver ever.

We at Paddy Power hate sporting injustices–so we’ve done our bit after a controversial end to the F1 season in Abu Dhabi. Max Verstappen needed a miracle to win, and one duly arrived in the form of a dodgy decision from the race organizers who appeared to rip up the rulebook and go rogue for the final lap of the race.”

“A safety car was sent out with six laps left, and that allowed Verstappen to bolt on a new set of tires, and close a 10-second gap to Hamilton.” said the bookmaker.

In delightful news for the fans, Paddy Power took this bold measure to pay out on both the title protagonists for the Abu Dhabi GP and the Championship win.

“Cue bedlam with Red Bull going wild celebrating, and Mercedes speechless and livid with the decision to allow some–but not all–of the lapped cars to get out of the way and gift Verstappen the win against a prone Hamilton.”

“But none of that matters for Paddy Power punters, because we have decided to pay out on both Max Verstappen AND Lewis Hamilton to win the World Drivers Championship.” notified the bookmaker.

Notably, they said that this process might take a bit longer than usual.
