We are all aware that every F1 star has a secondary sport they wished they were a part of. The cultural aspect plays a part in that for some drivers and Oscar Piastri is a prime example of that. We won’t find many drivers who follow Cricket but the Aussie in Piastri is a die-hard fan. The Australian showcased his love for the sport by being in attendance at the first of five-match test series between Australia and England called the Ashes. In fact, only a week after the first match, Piastri got a rare opportunity and even impressed Australia’s captain Pat Cummins.
For the unaware, the Ashes is one of the oldest and longest-running test series played between Australia and England, the two cricketing giants. Ashes has a long and rich history that dates back to 1877. Since then, the prestige and significance of the series for Aussie and English cricket fans has only increased. Piastri showcased that with his sly dig after Australia’s thrilling first win, thanks to Cummins. Piastri even received a lot of scathing comments from sour English fans. However, he wouldn’t mind, especially after the opportunity he got during the F1 downtime.
