Daniel Ricciardo has a rough season and has only finished once in the top 10 in the last five races. However, the Australian has managed to get closer to breaking a record of an Aussie legend after the inaugural Miami GP.

The Honey Badger is one of the favorite drivers on the F1 grid, especially for the Australian F1 fans. But before the rise of Ricciardo, there was another Australian who was the Australian fans’ favorite, and it was Mark Webber.

Webber was one of the best Australian F1 drivers. He scored 42 podiums, including nine race wins in 215 race starts, the most for an Aussie. Webber retired from F1 back in 2013, and then young Australian talent Ricciardo filled his vacant seat at Red Bull.

After Webber, Ricciardo became the best Australian driver, who has now bagged 32 podiums so far. Further, the Honey Badger tied the 215 race entry record of Mark Webber. In the upcoming Spanish GP, Daniel is set to make a record for the most experienced Australian F1 driver.

Daniel Ricciardo blames the Miami circuit

The McLaren F1 was one of the 3 teams that returned to their base without scoring any points last weekend. Lando Norris was out of the race after he clashed with AlphaTauri driver Pierre Gasly. Meanwhile, Ricciardo finished P11 after starting the race from P14.

Ricciardo had a poor qualifying because of an issue with the downshift in the MCL36. The Australian driver had to spend a lot of time in the garage. He hardly got any time set a decent time in the Q2 and had to settle with P14 for the main race. Further, he received a penalty for going off track and gaining an advantage, dropping Ricciardo to P13.
