While the race was highly eventful for the Red Bull team, its B team, VCARB was not enjoying the ride. The team that was accused of copying the RB19 has disappointed its fans with Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda ending up in a not-so-pleasant after-match discussion.

The Japanese driver seemed frustrated with his teammate taking the lead and ended up making a comment calling Ricciardo “not fast.” This bothered the Australian driver who took this to an interview with Will Buxton. In the interview, he shared some not-so-friendly words about his teammate. Daniel Ricciardo is often known for his happy-go-lucky personality, but it looks like his teammate got onto his nerves this time.

The Honey Badger is one of the happiest people in the sport unless when he has a bad race. While the cheerful driver is always known for his jolliness, his teammate criticizing him after the race, got to him. Post race, the Australian driver was asked about his teammate’s comment of calling him “Not fast,” to which he replied, “I don’t know. A bit of immaturity. I am being sensible right now, but let’s say immaturity. I think, obviously, he is frustrated by the team orders.”

Ricciardo explained the team’s plans and said, “Like, let’s be real this is something we talk about before the race. It was very likely that we were going to use the soft at the end of the race.” Putting his point across of what Tsunoda did according to him, the Australian driver said, “So, he knew there was a chance that I’d have a pace advantage, and if he gets the call it was going to happen.”

In the end, the Honey Badger said, “It’s not like he was going to give me points. We are fighting for 13th.” The two drivers were out of the points and towards the end, it was all about just completing the race. Currently, there is friction between the two VCARB drivers and the season has just started. Hopefully, things settled down within the Red Bull B team as the two drivers have a long season of 23 more races ahead of them.

Will Daniel Ricciardo find his way into Red Bull Racing after the 2023 season?

Daniel Ricciardo has been a Red Bull driver in the past. Things were going well for him until the 2018 crash with Max Verstappen at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. The Honey Badger decided to take a walk from Red Bull and move to Renault. Ever since then, it’s not been a good ride for the Australian, as after Renault didn’t work out, McLaren was his next team.

McLaren was no better of a story either, with him getting fired from the team and almost falling off the grid. It was Christian Horner who vouched for him and put him on the bench for Red Bull. After seeing that he was ready again, VCARB was how he made his return, but now he aims to get back into the Red Bull seat.

Although things are not clear yet with Christian Horner just getting out of a long and stressful investigation, Daniel Ricciardo will have to perform quite well this season for Red Bull to consider him in Checo’s place. It is rumored that after 2024, Sergio Perez will lose his seat and Red Bull will be looking for a new partner for Max Verstappen. This brings up the chance for Ricciardo to shine. Horner already has his faith in the Australian, going on to even call him close to Verstappen. But his fate in the teams will be decided by his performance this season.
