Daniel Ricciardo isn’t just your usual Formula 1 driver. He’s the kind of man who brings so much happiness, joy and inspiration into the lives of F1 fans across the world. For Elizabeth Soffe, a young burn victim, he did exactly that.

Elizabeth Soffe has been a key part of fundraising for burn victims. And for her efforts, she was awarded the pride of Britain award. But her highlight would’ve most probably been her favorite F1 driver breaking that news to her. What’s more? She also got to drive in a simulator at McLaren’s Woking headquarters!

After presenting Soffe with the award, Ricciardo spoke at length about the whole experience. He said, “It feels like there’s not even words that’ll do enough justice for what she’s done. It was a privilege to meet her. She really is the pride of Britain.” Soffe reiterated the same sentiments. She said, “It’s the best day of my life.”

It’s not every day that you get felicitated by Daniel Ricciardo. However, after a difficult childhood, it was the best day of her life for young Elizabeth Soffe. She was greeted and surprised by the Honey Badger at McLaren‘s factory in Woking and presented with the pride of Britain award.

Fans were quick to react to the heartwarming video. One fan commented, “She’s so lucky to have met someone as happy and awesome as Daniel. I’m sure he made that day awesome. He’s always smiling, laughing, messing about. What a cool person to have met!” While another user said, This is why I am a fan of his. Very cool. She is amazing. Well done, McLaren.”

It was an emotional video for all the fans. “I’m not crying, someone must be cutting onions…” But the general sentiment was of pride for both Ricciardo and Soffe. “Daniel is a legend. All the best for the future for this young lady with the beautiful eyes.”
