What a magnificent run Franz Tost had with the AlphaTauri team. Tost has been with the team ever since it was founded back in 2006 when it was called Toro Rosso. The team, albeit a sister team to Red Bull, has given the breakthrough to many F1 talents including the current world champion Max Verstappen. Daniel Ricciardo is another driver who started his journey at this team, as the Australian pens a heartwarming note for Franz Tost.

We won’t be wrong if we suggest that Franz Tost has been the godfather of the Toro Rosso [AlphaTauri] team. However, earlier this season, Tost announced his decision to leave the team and retire from the sport altogether. Ricciardo in a recent interview explained how Tost helped him with the reality of F1 and helped the Honey Badger settle down in the sport.

As the season ends inches closer, people at AlphaTauri start with their tributes for Tost. Daniel Ricciardo featured a handwritten note for his retiring boss. The note read, “Franz, I hope to see you relaxing on the beach instead of running on the beach. Grande grande grande grazie per tutti!!!”

Tost means a lot to the whole Red Bull family in fact and it only makes sense for all of them to try and do something for the retiring boss. Let’s see what Daniel Ricciardo’s teammate is planning.

AlphaTauri and Williams are in a close fight for the 7th place in constructors. Only 7 points separate the two teams. Yuki Tsunoda, while explaining how Tost will be missed, advised that he wants to beat Williams in the constructors, and get the 7th place as a parting gift for Tost. AlphaTauri have come to Abu Dhabi with major upgrades to help them in the fight.

Yuki Tsunoda said, “Franz Tost has been the only F1 team boss I’ve worked with. I feel I’ve been fighting for him this year, and I really want to beat Williams for him in his last race as team principal. I appreciate what he has done. Without him, I wouldn’t be racing here, and without his advice, I wouldn’t have made as much progress as I have. Hopefully, we can finish on a good note, end the season the way we want, and be able to put a smile on his face”

AlphaTauri has looked good so far in Abu Dhabi & may just surprise a few with a stand-out result. Tsunoda had achieved his career-best p4 finish in Yas Marina itself a couple of years ago. Thus, he would be pretty confident to send off Tost on an elated note by beating Williams for P7.
