Daniel Ricciardo had a poor 2-year stint with McLaren that made him take a year away from Formula 1. However, the Honey Badger’s popularity and commercial value are higher than ever. While he has now signed a deal with Red Bull for a reserve driver role, his agents have revealed the Aussie could also take up to a role in TV space.

Daniel Ricciardo may not have won a Formula 1 world championship, but he remains one of the most popular athletes in the sport. A big reason for that is the success of Netflix’s Formula 1: Drive to Survive. The former McLaren driver charmed the viewers with his affable personality and free-spirited nature.

Daniel Ricciardo’s agents looking to bank on his commercial success

Daniel Ricciardo is currently working as an Executive Producer for an upcoming Hulu series. The series will be based around F1 with a theme similar to the TV show ‘Entourage’. One of Daniel’s agents, Nick Thimm from CAA, which is reportedly a $17.8 billion company, revealed they turned down some TV roles. However, they are looking to land an “adjacent to the F1 world” role, which will differ from an expert role.

Thimm expressed, “Even though it didn’t go our way driving wise (at McLaren), his commercial portfolio has never been bigger.”

Sports Business Journal quoted him as saying, “As all the struggles were going on (on the track in 2022), he still evolved and rose to the top from a commercial, marketing and representation-of-the-sport perspective.

Daniel’s other agent, Roman Di Somma believes the Honey Badger is still eyeing a comeback in 2024. That is something Ricciardo has maintained throughout the last few months. Even when he cleared his intention of taking a break from F1, he vowed to come back stronger in 2024.

Lewis Hamilton in a press conference in Italy, was asked if he’d like to have Daniel on his team as a third driver. Planet F1 quoted him answering, of course if he’s a part of our team that would be great, but I mean, third [driver] role is not really I think what’s best for him, so if I was managing him, you’d be racing.”
