Looking like a dream in Versace, Anne Hathaway walked up to Daniel Ricciardo to tell him that she is a fan of F1 and our worlds stood for that brief moment. Seeing the 8x GP winner in attendance, it was a gala for us even away from NYC where the actual Met Gala took place. But Daniel Ricciardo wasn’t always a fan of the event. He had in fact given Lewis Hamilton some shade stating the “formal” event wasn’t the Australian’s cup of tea. But little did he know.

In 2021, Lewis Hamilton bought an entire table at the gala to bring with him upcoming black designers and give them a platform. The torchbearer of human rights brought his passion for equality to the world of fashion as well. Attending the gala was something almost unheard of in the world of speeding. So much so that a very outgoing Daniel Ricciardo had, even in a way, snubbed the event stating that he may never attend.

And while our heart was full of joy when the Honey Badger turned up at the celebrity flocked event. We couldn’t help but look back at when he dissed the event. In 2021, he told the Pardon My Take podcast, “After seeing some of the images, not really. Look, I mean, the way some of the fashion is now, I think you probably could get away with that. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure it would be an experience, but I don’t know. It seems a little formal for me.”

And while Lewis is not in attendance this year due to the Miami weekend that is set to begin tomorrow, he did have some special making an appearance.
