The fickle nature of Formula 1 always brings excitement to the track. We witnessed this scenario a week ago in Monaco as the last stint of the race saw rain. The rain completely changed the dynamics for, if not anyone, at least McLaren. From running outside points, both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri finished in points after the streets of Monaco became slippery. In fact, the unexpected rain even saw Norris drive his MCL60 faster than the vastly superior RB19 of Max Verstappen. Anyone in McLaren is yet to figure out the reason behind the unexpected boost in performance. However, before they can pinpoint the reason, Norris wants to exploit this as much as he can.

The Brit was extremely cheerful after the Monaco GP, thanks to the positive last stint in the race. In fact, Norris even confessed his desire of passing Verstappen under a humiliating scenario during an interview. We are not sure when this scenario will come to life if it ever does. However, speaking to Formula Passion, a hopeful Norris wants to relive the Monaco GP post-rain race feeling and possibly make the scenario come true.

“I can’t say why the car went better in the wet than in the dry,” declared the Brit. “But it was a lot of fun in Monaco – but there are some little things that led us to believe that our car was more competitive in the wet than in the dry. With the rain, it seemed that the situation worked in our favour. If the rain can actually help us, hopefully, it can get here too.” (Translated by Google)

No, we are not talking about the most unexpected U-turn in McLaren’s driver lineup. The British team is making changes in the technical department and has signed Rob Marshall as the new Technical Director. The ex-Red Bull man will become part of the Papaya team in 2024 and Norris couldn’t contain his excitement.

“Marshall’s experience and knowledge has contributed to the successes of Red Bull in recent years. He has been one of the brightest minds in F1, so he has a lot of brains and is a great arrival for us as a team. A lot of people will look up to him at McLaren, so I hope he can help give us a boost by adding performance and experience,” said Norris.
