The streets of Baku never disappoint. While Red Bull has been the most dominant team in these streets, the team also saw the most chaotic team dynamic unfold in 2018 when Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo crashed on lap 40. However, still unsure of what might manifest this weekend, we know one thing for sure; the drivers will have an exhausting time. Don’t believe this? Max Verstappen has already predicted chaos.

FIA rolled out an experimental race weekend format with the first sprint race of the season. This format stipulates that Friday will have a free practice session followed by qualifying for the main race. The next day will be dedicated to sprint entirely with a sprint shootout setting the grid for the sprint race will take place after 5 hours of the shootout. The outcome of the sprint run won’t affect the starting grid of the GP, and this may lead to drivers taking unprecedented risks. Verstappen, who threatened to quit F1 over these random changes, is already not a fan of this.

As quoted by news.verstappen.com, Max Verstappen said, “It’s great to be back! It’s been a long break and I’m looking forward to racing again. Baku is a challenging job to do.”

He further added, “Because it’s a street circuit with long straights, it gives us several options in terms of wing settings. It’s also the first sprint race weekend of the season, so that might make things a bit chaotic. We just have to try to start the weekend well with a solid first free practice. Let’s see what we can achieve.”
