The juggernaut of Red Bull has so far proven to be unbeatable. So far, it has held five of six of the top two podium places and shows no signs of slowing down. Both the drivers are pushing for the championship, and the temperature of the rubber as well as the competition is heating up. Of the team’s two drivers, Max Verstappen leads the table with 69 points, and Sergio Perez follows him with 54 points. However, for Checo, this deficit could’ve been lower had he finished higher in Australia.

Between the two drivers chasing the championship, the path is long. Nevertheless, the image will be clearer in the coming rounds, as the competition has been fair and rough so far. Along with this, we’ll see the favorites coming up, which will upset the fans of the one that is left behind. And if the past is any indication of which of the two will be leading ahead, we all know the answer.

After his 2022 title run, Max has been the favorite for this year. While, for many, Checo is the one to look out for. Given that we’ve heard picks among the two from many, former F1 champion Emerson Fittipaldi weighs in on his opinion. As quoted by the AS, the former Brazilian driver, choosing between Max and Checo, said, “The superiority is from Verstappen and ” Checo” Pérez, that is, from the car, but Verstappen is demonstrating with results that perhaps he is a little better than his partner.”

The Australian GP proved to be a test for Sergio Perez as he aims to challenge for the championship. This hopeful championship run comes despite the display of power by the Dutchman last year. But for Checo, winning is easier said than done. His failure to land on the podium in Australia has rung alarm bells for him and his fans, who fear that his age and other factors could hamper his title run.

Fittipaldi was a seasoned driver not just in Formula 1 but in IndyCar as well. So he surely knows his stuff when it comes to the world of motorsport. After having chosen Max as his favorite, Fittipaldi believes Fernando Alonso could potentially bag his 33rd race win at Monaco, as he’d just need to get the pole. However, according to him, the Red Bull party can spoil the Spaniard’s plans.

He said, “I see two problems for him to win in the Principality: one is Max Verstappen and the other ‘Checo’ Pérez. The two will go very strong also in Monaco but it is obvious that Fernando will have his options. You can win if you are lucky.”
