Ferrari started off last season with a banger as they managed two race wins from the first three fixtures. After that, it was all smooth sailing for Red Bull, who did not give them much of a chance of a comeback. Despite that, Charles Leclerc managed a runner-up spot for himself in the drivers’ standings while his teammate Carlos Sainz languished in 5th. The abysmal run for the Spaniard has continued in 2023, but a veteran F1 champion feels it won’t last for too long.
If 2022 was a disappointment for the Tifosi, 2023 is turning out to be a nightmare. The reliability issues are back and the car is nowhere near what is required to challenge Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez for the top spot. What is even more depressing is the fact that the Prancing Horse drivers haven’t had a single podium finish until now in the season. Amidst all this, they are facing rumors of Sainz looking for a move to Audi once the team officially joins the grid in 2026.

Carlos Sainz ready to overcome his bad run
Former 2-time F1 champion Emerson Fittipaldi recently sat down for an interview. During the interview, he gave his opinion and predictions for all things Formula 1. He believes Fernando Alonso will break his race-win drought this year in Monaco and compared him with the likes of tennis legend Rafael Nadal.

Speaking about Ferrari and Carlos during the interview with AS, Fittipaldi said, “They are in a moment of recovery with Vasseur as capo and I am sure that they will go further. Sainz is having a brilliant career at Ferrari. He is fast and consistent and is continually fighting in the top positions. Catching up with Red Bull is going to be difficult but I am sure that Ferrari will continue to progress throughout the year.” [Translated using Google]
Emerson rued the absence of Brazilian drivers on the grid currently. However, he remained hopeful about Felipe Drugovich (Aston Martin reserve driver) and his grandson Pietro Fittipaldi (Haas reserve driver) soon making the cut in the top-flight league.

Who did Emerson Fittipaldi pick as the best-ever F1 driver?
Given how rich F1’s history is, the debate around picking the GOAT from all eras always leaves one scratching their head. Every era has its own stars. It is difficult enough to pick among the current lot with the likes of Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton still locking horns with young guns like Max Verstappen, let alone choosing one from all eras combined.

When the 76-year-old was asked to reveal his pick, he replied, “If you ask a Brazilian like me, he will tell you that Ayrton Senna, but it is difficult to compare times. I want to highlight the maestro Juan Manuel Fangio, who has certainly been one of the greatest in history. We can also talk about Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart, Reuteman, Lauda,… It’s difficult to say one but as a Brazilian and passionate about racing I say Senna.”
