More than winning multiple world championships like Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc‘s biggest dream stopped at racing for the legendary Ferrari F1 team. But since his partnership with the team in 2019, most of whatever has transpired has been against his expectations. Despite facing such hardships, he is reportedly finalizing a $204 million contract with the Maranello outfit which will run till the end of 2029. At the same time, he is aware of the precarious situations that may follow.
If the Monegasque looks to stay for 5 more years at Ferrari, there is no assurance that things will get better. But can they get better? Definitely. It will require a monumental effort from each person in their garage, factory, and motorhome to budge in the right direction. They have to correct years of incompetency to make considerable change and Leclerc knows the difficulties that he is signing up for.

Leclerc told F1.com at Zandvoort, “First, I’ve got a season to finish in 2023, but we can only go in another direction because at the moment the car is really difficult to drive. It’s just very, very difficult to be on the limit.”
Elaborating on the specifics that troubled him at the Dutch GP, he said, “I think we are particularly struggling this weekend and even more so than what the balance would slow us down, just because we need to be so far off the limit. As soon as you get close to the limit, you just really don’t know what’s going to happen. That’s exactly what happened in my Q3 lap, so it’s a difficult situation.”
The Scuderia have a lot of variables coming into play if they aim for the top spot in the championship. Though there is a steep mountain yet to be climbed, the game plan has been set out, per Leclerc.
