Arriving in the 2014 season on the back of a 4-year championship streak, Sebastian Vettel hoped to continue the momentum. However, he did not just pose no competition but also failed to register a single win. Resultantly, he made a switch to an Italian giant Ferrari in search of another F1 trophy. As it turned out, Vettel remained trophyless during his 6 years with the Prancing Horse. However, looking back at those times after retiring, he believes he has no regrets.
Vettel’s real shot at the championship trophy came in the 2017 season. The German was evenly matched with Lewis Hamilton, with both drivers putting up the best of their consistent performances. However, as the season progressed towards the second half, Hamilton registered 6 wins from 7 races between the fixtures in Belgium and the US. Sebastian finished as the runner-up that season. In 2018 again he finished 2nd, failing to stop the Hamilton-Mercedes juggernaut.
Speaking on Beyond the Grid Podcast, Vettel said, “I think I have a very strong emotional connection with Italy and the Italian people, and with Ferrari as a brand, so it was a privilege to race for Ferrari.” [Translated using Google]
