Lewis Hamilton established himself as the next big thing in F1 when he won the 2008 World Drivers’ Championship. That year, it was all about him and his talent. But if we backtrack our steps and go back to 2007, that is when Hamilton found love. Lady Luck had bestowed upon him who he thought was his life partner. It was none other than Nicole Scherzinger. But it was not to be for them and they eventually parted ways in 2015. Everything between them seems well now as the British racer is happy for Scherzinger as she gets engaged to her current boyfriend.

Hamilton and Scherzinger first met in 2007 at the MTV Europe Music Awards. At that time, she was still a part of the Pussycat Dolls. After dating rumors of them emerged, and they looked like the perfect celebrity pairing. That was the time when Hamilton had started to look formidable on the racetrack. And after they started dating, he won his 1st ever WDC in 2008. However, after that, they seemed to have a considerable amount of issues and the relationship was on and off. And they finally called it quits in 2015.

Cut to the present, the American singer has been dating ex-Rugby player Thom Evans for 4 years. They met on Celebrity X Factor in 2019 and Evans claimed he had hit the jackpot. And 3 days ago, Evans popped the question to his Love of 4 years in a scenic setting. Scherzinger captured that soul-stirring moment in photographs and posted it on her Instagram account. She captioned the post: I said yes 💍♥️”

The comments section was filled with her blue-tick celebrity friends congratulating them. But apart from the romantic moment, what stood out on the post was a like from her ex-boyfriend Lewis Hamilton. Yes, Hamilton liked the post. It just goes to show that they have healthily moved on from the past. And also how maturely they have behaved as adults.

Now, it is all water under the bridge. But, as per a Former McLaren Employee, the turbulent relationship between them also negatively affected Hamilton’s performances in F1.

After winning his 1st WDC in 2008, Hamilton could not replicate the same success till 2014. And as per Former McLaren Communication Director, Matt Bishop, it was because Hamilton struggled emotionally from the turbulent relationship with the Pussycats Doll singer.

As per their closest circles, the duo could not make things work because of strict work commitments. And they used to be in different corners of the Earth owing to their work schedules. This took an emotional toll on both of them. After their breakup, Scherzinger told The Sun, “I’m devastated that it didn’t work out. It was the hardest decision we had to make, but we made it together”
