With each passing day, the sport of Formula 1 is seemingly moving away from Lewis Hamilton and his ethos. The jewelry ban, then the free-speech mandate, and everything that the FIA or this sport does seems to be against what Hamilton stands for. But one issue he’s had a problem with for many, many years is actually getting worse now. And men like Lawrence Stroll, who you’d argue are the reason why this is the case, have started to speak up.
Hamilton has always been harping on the need for equality in our sport. While he’s been vocal about the inclusivity aspect, too, his other concern is the equality of opportunity. Hamilton had recently told AS, “Growing up in a normal working-class family, there is no way I could be here – the guys you are fighting against have that much more money.” Now, the big billionaire, Stroll who has propelled his own son to this sport has weighed in.

Lawrence Stroll rubs salt in Lewis Hamilton’s wounds
The 38-year-old has been very passionately infused in helping change the status quo. But according to Stroll Sr., though the picture is grim, it must be accepted for what it is. In a nutshell, the Canadian business magnate shut the Brit down with a pragmatic reality check while showcasing the $19,000,000 hit he has had to take as well.

Stroll was quoted by The Sun as saying, “It’s a lot less expensive to play golf or play tennis but F1 it’s an expensive sport, there’s machinery. There’s a lot of people who run the machines. You have to be a very wealthy individual or a very large corporation to be able to afford to be in Formula One.”
“I don’t know what Lewis’s comment was referring to but this is a sport that is very capital intensive. If you look at, for example, building a new building or a new wind tunnel, that’s well over $19,000,000. But Formula One is definitely an expensive sport to be in, there’s no question about that.”
But while Hamilton cribs about the rising costs, he’s also no slouch when it comes to his demands.
