Lewis Hamilton is a man of many talents and interests—apart from his illustrious career as an F1 driver, he, in general, is an adrenaline junkie. But apart from his escapades of riding MotoGP bikes and sky-diving, there is one thing he lives by. And that’s being vegan. Numerous sports athletes have turned to veganism, with former NFL quarterback Tom Brady even writing a book on his diet and how it’s with the longevity of his career.

So after featuring in the 2018 Netflix documentary, The Game Changers – about the benefits of plant-based diets Lewis founded Neat Burger, a food venture to make plant-based food more accessible to everyone. And it recently established an outlet in the US.

The seven-time world champion established Neat Burger in 2019 – a food chain that was already doing pretty well reached a valuation of $100 million after investments from actor Leonardo DiCaprio and Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. So it’s safe to say that Hamilton’s aim to make vegan food more accessible is working, especially in a country that loves fast food as much as the US.

In the ongoing two-week break between the Spanish GP and the Canadian GP, Hamilton was in NYC, and fans saw him on a lunch date with actor Tom Holland. When it comes to racing, the Spider-Man: No Way Home star is partial toward his compatriot, Sir Lewis.

And now that he lives in New York City, he couldn’t pass up the opportunity to dine with his role model, even if it meant that he–a non-vegetarian—might have to eat an entirely vegan meal at Neat Burger. But much to his delight, the two had lunch and caught up at one of the most famous Italian restaurants in the city, Sant Ambroeus.

While Hamilton hasn’t had enough influence on Holland to convert him into a vegan, he has managed to make him a hardcore fanboy and member of the Lewis Hamilton Army. And because of this, spotting him in the paddock for races these days has become a regular occurrence.

Tom Holland is a “die-hard” Lewis Hamilton fan

Tom Holland is no stranger to the F1 paddock. In the past few years, he has made multiple visits to race weekends. And every time he does, he makes it a point to meet McLaren driver Lando Norris, which causes F1 fans to go into a frenzy, given how well he’ll play Norris’ role if ever there were to be a movie on him. Even though Norris is one of his favorite drivers, he knows where his loyalties lie.

Before the start of the Monaco GP this year, Holland was asked who he hoped would win the race. According to an F1 YouTube video, Tom replied, “I’m a die-hard Lewis [Hamilton] fan, so I want him to somehow make it to the front.” Although he didn’t get to see Lewis win the race, he got to wave the checkered flag as his hero crossed the finish line in P4, and that would’ve been at least some consolation.

Despite failing to have his lunch with Tom over there, Lewis is quite pro active about his NYC restaurant. With the rate at which Neat Burger is growing, Hamilton might have to consider expanding the chain even more. Who knows, with the upcoming Canadian GP, he might decide to set up shop there as well.
