Daniel Ricciardo would want to erase most memories of his largely disappointing time at McLaren. Ricciardo’s time at McLaren even took a toll on Ricciardo as he admitted he started feeling the symptoms of burnout. In fact, this is exactly why the Australian wanted a break from racing. However, for Lando Norris, it was all a learning curve.

Norris made this admission in an interview with ESPN at the Circuit of The Americas. Despite beating the Australian on most occasions through their time together at McLaren, Norris admitted the massive impact Ricciardo has had on him.

“I’ve been able to learn a hell of a lot from Daniel,” Norris explained. “His approach to racing, his mentality with it all, through the tough times, how he keeps so strong with it all and has so much belief in himself.”

Norris also shared his admiration for his driving and how he has tried to pick up some Honey Badger traits.

“But even on the driving side, how he drives the car in many ways. Like, you can see those instances of what’s made him so good. I guess I try to take them on board. It’s not an easy thing to do, but the more I’ve been able to learn from him, the better I’ve become, and that’s only a good thing for me,” he added.

This is just one of many examples where the two have openly admitted to their budding relationship. However, when it came to picking up his best teammate, Ricciardo ditched the young Brit.

In all honesty, Ricciardo had only had a couple of races under his belt with the Woking outfit during this admission. And now, Ricciardo’s back with his old buddy and making new memories.

When asked to pick a better driver, Ricciardo revealed his pick to EFTMOnline. He said, “I mean I have to say Max but it’s probably just based off I’ve had more experience with him.”

We doubt Ricciardo’s stance on the topic has changed since. However, the Australian has definitely helped Norris become a better driver, as per his own admission.
